Furries have 'nothing to do' with Florida law, senator says

(NewsNation) — Furries in Florida are feeling the impact of a new law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis that bans children from attending live adult entertainment. A large furry convention set in the Sunshine State for the fall has decided that in order to comply with SB 1438 or the “Protection of Children Act,” it will no longer allow anyone younger than 18 to attend.The law prohibits people from “knowingly admitting a child to an adult live performance.” Those breaking the law could face criminal punishment.A study published on the National Library of Medicine defines furries as “individuals who are especially interested in anthropomorphic or cartoon animals” and who “often strongly identify with anthropomorphic animals and create fursonas, identities of themselves as those anthropomorphic animals.” FBI won’t hand over docs requested by committee, Comer says Megaplex cited “legal reasons and protection of our attendees, our venue, and the overall convention” as reasons for the change ...

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) – A man fishing for crappie at Cheney Lake in Kansas got more than he bargained for on Memorial Day: He found a Jeep more than 16 feet below the surface. He has all the newest, high-tech sonar gear, including a live scope.On Monday, he was about 130 feet from the dam at the lake, just west of Wichita, when he saw something on one of his monitors. Greg Abbott as interim attorney general following the impeachment of Ken Paxton from the position. He most recently served as the secretary of state, but resigned from the role of Texas' top elections official at the end of 2022. Austin firefighter stabbed in leg after downtown grass fire, affidavit says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin firefighter was stabbed in the thigh Monday on Interstate 35 after a grass fire near the interstate and Riverside Drive, according to an arrest affidavit.The Austin Fire Department said Monday the firefighter was recovering at home. Austin firefighter stabbed while responding downtown Kelly Dane Ingroum, 59, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault against a public servant. KXAN reached out to an attorney connected with Ingroum. We will update this story if we receive a response. The affidavit states firefighters saw Ingroum holding "something that was on fire." They assumed it was a tire because they could smell burnt rubber. Minnesota United is deep in its pursuit of a new striker with a proven goal-scoring record, and a player who fits that profile has surfaced this week.MNUFC has been linked to former Norwich City and current Finland national team forward Teemu Pukki.Pukki, 33, played his final game for Norwich in England’s second tier, the Championship, in early May and is now a free agent. One arrested after shots fired in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Justin L. Willsey of Schenectady was arrested following an investigation into shots fired on Tuesday afternoon. Police say reports indicated the shots were fired in the area of Gerling Street and Van Vranken Avenue. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Investigations determined that a verbal argument began on Van Vranken and continued to Florence Street and Florence Alley where the shots were fired. Multiple shell casings were recovered. DEC: Solo climber rescued on Mount Colden

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Monday evening, New York State Police and DEC Forest Rangers conducted a wilderness rescue on Mount Colden. A solo climber was stranded on the trap dike slide and required assistance. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! State Police flew three Rangers to Avalanche Lake at the base of the trap dike. The Rangers climbed up to the individual and equipped him with a helmet and harness. They built anchors and lowered him into the dike to a location where he could walk. Boat transportation was provided following the rescue.

Thief hits St. Louis Target store 12 times, steals $2.6K worth of items

ST. LOUIS - Authorities arrested a man who reportedly stole from a St. Louis Target store 12 times this year and took off with more than $2,600 worth of items. Prosecutors charged Nicholas Pannell, 39, with 12 counts of stealing in the investigation. Pannell had three prior convictions for stealing-related offenses over the past decade, prior to several reported thefts at Target this year. According to court documents obtained by FOX 2, Pannell is linked to 12 thefts at the Target on Hampton Avenue in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood. The thefts happened between Feb. 16 and May 26 this year. New hydrogen hub in Wentzville raises concern for residents  Pannell reportedly stole anywhere from $60 to $571 worth of items during each theft and more than $100 worth of items all but two times. Victim identified in horrific north St. Louis collision

ST. LOUIS -- A fatal crash at Hamilton Avenue and Page Boulevard sent six people to the hospital on Monday, May 8, 2023. Police have now identified the man killed in the crash as Jermaine Sanders, 29, of Pagedale, Missouri. He was driving a 2018 Chevy Impala when it crossed into the westbound lanes of Page and hit a truck.A witness saw the driver of an Impala speeding down Page. Neighbors helped passengers who were stuck inside the cars while they waited for first responders. A young boy was in the truck along with his father and another passenger.Neighbors said the intersection is very dangerous. Drivers are known to speed through that intersection.Officers said two passengers from the Impala were in critical condition, and the three passengers from the truck were also taken to the hospital.
