ATLANTA (AP) — Sixty-one people have been indicted in Georgia on racketeering charges following a long-running state investigation into protests against a proposed police and training facility in the Atlanta area that critics call “Cop City.”The sweeping indictment was brought by Republican Attorney General Chris Carr. Austrian actor gets 2-year suspended sentence over possessing and processing child sex abuse images

VIENNA (AP) — An Austrian court on Tuesday found actor Florian Teichtmeister guilty of possessing and producing tens of thousands of files of child sex abuse images and sentenced him to a two-year suspended prison sentence.Teichtmeister previously pleaded guilty to collecting and, in some cases, processing, files containing depictions of the sexual abuse of children, public broadcaster ORF reported. Teichtmeister was not accused of photographing or filming acts of abuse himself. The Vienna state court also ruled that the 43-year-old must undergo therapy and regularly submit to drug tests. NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks slipped on Wall Street Tuesday as traders return from a long holiday weekend to face a relatively quiet week.The S&P 500 fell 0.3%. The index is coming off its second weekly gain. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 139 points, or 0.4%, to 34,695 as of 1:22 p.m. Eastern. DETROIT (AP) — The U.S. government is taking a big step toward forcing a defiant Tennessee company to recall 52 million air bag inflators that could explode, hurl shrapnel and injure or kill people.The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Tuesday said it has made an initial decision that the inflators made by ARC Automotive Inc., and under license by another company, are defective. The agency scheduled a public hearing for Oct. 5, a required step before seeking a court-ordered recall.In May the agency asked ARC to recall the inflators, which it says are responsible for at least seven injuries and two deaths in the U.S. and Canada since 2009. CHICAGO — A man and woman have died after being pulled from Lake Michigan in two separate incidents.Around 10:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a person in the water after a witness observed multiple people jumping into the lake on the 5000 block of South Lake Shore Drive. ANTIOCH, Ill. — A 92-year-old man was fatally struck by a train in Antioch.Emergency officials responded around 7:10 p.m. Friday to Route 173 east of Route 83 for a report of a person struck by a train. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had been struck by a train at the pedestrian crossing east of Route 83. He was pronounced dead at the scene.The man has been identified as 92-year-old Wayne Blanchette of Antioch. Autopsy results indicate that Blanchette died from blunt force injuries as a result of the incident. 24-year-old man critical after Lincoln Park shooting The accident remains under investigation.
