Boston police provide update as investigation into deadly Hyde Park hit-and-run continues

Boston police provided an update Tuesday as investigators continue to search for the driver of a car involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash in Hyde Park last week. The crash happened on Tuesday of last week around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Wood Avenue.On scene, police said officers found a 4-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries after being struck in the crash. Police said the boy was taken to a hospital, where he died. Family members identified the boy who was killed as Ivan Pierre. Police later released surveillance video of a car possibly connected to the crash. In their update this week, Boston police described a “suspect vehicle” in the case as a gray Chevrolet Spark with a model year between 2016 and 2022. Police said the car was last seen traveling on Harvard Street in the direction of Walk Hill Street. Police have asked anyone with information to contact detectives at at (617) 343-4470.Those wishing to reach out anonymously can do so by cal...

As the sun goes down this evening, those storms will lose steam and we’ll start to clear out later tonight. Luckily, tomorrow will buck the trend – for a day, at least – continuing to warm up with sunny skies throughout the day. A great day to hit the beaches if you have some free time – temperatures will run in the low 80s along the coastline with a nice breeze.Inland, expect temperatures to climb into the upper 80s to around 90. Boston man appears in court after arrest in connection with carjacking in Stoughton

A Boston man appeared in court Tuesday to face firearms charges after he was accused of stealing an SUV at gunpoint and later crashing the car into a Boston police cruiser Monday evening. The carjacking happened in Stoughton. In a statement, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said officers were later notified of a “be on the lookout” message related to the incident. Around 7 p.m., the DA’s office said officers spotted the stolen white Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling down Horadan Way in Roxbury.The DA’s office said officers drew their guns and ordered the car’s driver to get out of the vehicle. Instead, officials said the driver put the car into reverse and rammed a parked police cruiser.The DA’s office said authorities removed Junior Joseph, 34, from the Grand Cherokee and later found a gun in the driver’s seat. Joseph is being held without bail.

Crews battle fire on MCAS Miramar base

SAN DIEGO -- A fire caused by a military explosion broke out on Tuesday at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, according to officials.The fire, which started at two acres in East Miramar around 2:34 p.m., has now surpassed 105 acres, MCAS Miramar tweeted at 4:52 p.m.MCAS Miramar says the fire was caused by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal detonation during training. Man dies on hiking trail Multiple agencies are at the scene working to put out the fire. NEW YORK (AP) — British billionaire and Tottenham soccer team owner Joe Lewis has been indicted in the U.S. on charges of slipping confidential business information to others, including his romantic partners and private pilots, prosecutors said Tuesday. The same day Elon Musk abruptly dropped Twitter’s name and bird logo as part of its supposed transition to an “anything app” called X, TikTok impishly announced it will begin letting its users post — you guessed it — text-based messages. The popular Chinese-owned app, best known for lip-synced dances, often farcical “challenges” and other short videos, didn’t offer much explanation for the new feature. It did note in a statement that the service is “expanding the boundaries of content creation” by showcasing the written creativity users have previously had to share via comments and video captions. The remarks by Dan Hutchinson, a Yolo County deputy public defender, came during a proceeding to determine whether Carlos Dominguez is mentally competent to participate in a criminal trial over the stabbings that rocked the University of California, Davis, campus and surrounding community.
